Amatrol’s Electrical Control 1 Learning System (96-ECS1) teaches learners how to interpret, design, and operate relay control circuits using ladder diagrams. Electrical control is vital in the operation of electric and fluid power actuators and also forms the fundamental building block of automation systems like programmable logic controllers (PLCs), which are programmed using the electrical control schematic method, the ladder diagram.

The 96-ECS1 includes a tabletop console with pre-mounted electrical control, pneumatic, and electric power components. Each component’s electrical terminals are connected to heavy-duty banana jacks, enabling learners to quickly connect and operate a variety of automation control circuits. This learning system also features interactive multimedia curriculum covering major topic areas like control logic, ladder diagrams, sequencing control, timers, and advanced systems. This multimedia curriculum comes alive with exciting animations, videos, and interactive exercises, as well as a virtual simulator.

Use Real World Components for Hands-On Skills

Amatrol's Electrical Control 1 Learning System features numerous real-world components, such as DPDT relays, double-acting cylinders, limit switches, pushbuttons, accelerator switches, and solenoid operator valves. Learners use these components mounted on a tabletop, 18-gauge steel workstation to practice hands-on skills like connecting and operating logic control circuits to energize fluid-power actuators and an electric motor. Timer relays and limit switches are used to provide sequencing control.

The computer control learning systems use an industrial programmable logic controller (PLC) with a console that mounts directly to the top of the 96-ECS1 console. All inputs and outputs on the 96-ECS1 can be interfaced to the computer control module to enable learners to program the PLC to run real-world automation components.

Interactive Electrical Control eLearning Curriculum

Amatrol's electrical relay control training system features interactive eLearning curriculum that integrates various types of learning methods to create an engaging, effective learning experience. Amatrol’s multimedia eLearning curriculum includes text with voiceovers, videos, 3D animations, pictures, and interactive activities, quizzes, and self-reviews. Specific electrical relay control topics covered include: logic elements; ladder diagrams; electro-pneumatic solenoid valves; relay operation and applications; limit switch operation and applications; time-delay relays; multiple cylinder control; and machine modes of operation. Within these topics, learners will study objectives like connecting and operating a logic circuit given a ladder diagram; designing a ladder diagram using one or more logic elements; connecting and operating a relay to perform a seal-in function; designing a logic circuit that uses a limit switch to sequence an event; connecting and operating a two-pushbutton jog circuit that will jog two cylinders independently; and designing a continuous-cycle, synchronized cylinder circuit with a manual mode.

Virtual simulators offer instructors and learners great flexibility when learning remotely or when a physical trainer must be shared by multiple learners.
