The term ‘central lubrication’ refers to a system where lubricant is stored, handled, and pumped from a central location and is distributed outwardly to the required site. These operations are usually performed automatically, and are done for five main reasons: increased productivity, reduced operating costs, more efficient lubrication, safety, and better housekeeping.

In reality, a central lubrication system prolongs the life of a machines by supplying the proper amount of lubrication. This is very beneficial, since nearly 70% of machine failures are attributed to lubrication faults. Central lubrication systems perform lubrication automatically while the machine is running. There is no need for costly shutdown of the equipment, as is often required with manual methods.
