Materials Products for Mechatronics
Amatrol’s Industrial Materials training line of products span a vast array of topics like surveying, bridge construction, blow molding, and materials testing. Applications of these systems range from architecture to construction to product design. Many of these products are also featured prominently in Amatrol programs like Engineering Technology, Construction Technology, and Industrial Maintenance. Amatrol also offers several materials systems geared toward a high school audience.
Design of Structures
Design of Structures 1 Learning System (94-DOS1): covers the design, construction, and analysis of structures such as bridges, buildings, and tunnels. This system allows learners to build scale models of Warren, Howe, and Truss bridges. After studying topics such as the forces acting against bridge structures and the common methods of analysis, learners will assemble the bridges from supplied components and then test and analyze how different forces act on the structures to show the advantages and disadvantages of each structure.
Design of Structures 2 Learning System (94-DOS2): expands on the 94-DOS1 concepts by covering topics like beam deflection, column buckling, concrete, building design, and construction. This system introduces learners to theoretical principles such as how different types of loads affect a structure and then allows them to build a scale model of a four story building frame and test how different stresses act on it.
Design of Structures 3 Learning System (94-DOS3): covers the basic principles of surveying, surveying equipment, reading and interpreting maps, and global positioning systems. This system will cover vital topics like level-transit operation, trigonometric survey applications, topographical maps, global positioning system applications, and more!
Plastics
Plastics Technology Learning System (94-MP3T): is an all-in-one trainer that can perform injection molding, blow molding, and extrusion molding! With the ability to hold four ounces of plastics, the 94-MP3T can perform multiple molding shots without learners needing to refill the system and wait for the plastic to melt.
Design Processes 3 Learning System (94-DFM3): adds to the 94MP-3T and requires CAD software, CAM software, and a CNC machine. This system covers basic injection design, advanced injection mold design, plastics part design, plastics material selection, and basic blow molding design.
Materials Engineering
Materials Engineering 1 Learning System (94-MT1): uses industrial quality components to teach learners how to evaluate and use different industry grade materials. This system allows learners to conduct a wide array of tests including tensile testing on steel alloys. Learners will study industry-relevant skills in materials testing (tensile, compression, hardness, and shear), computerized data acquisition, chemistry of metals, interpretation of industry-standard numeric identification systems of various types of metals (steel, aluminum, brass, and copper), material strength analysis, and product design.
High School Options for Industrial Materials Training
In addition to learning systems geared toward post-secondary and industrial customers, Amatrol also offers systems specifically designed for high schools. One of the biggest challenges facing the workforce today is a skilled worker shortage. Because of this, Amatrol is dedicated to providing high schools with learning solutions that will cover applicable STEM knowledge and advanced manufacturing topics and skills. High School learning systems within the materials area include:
Plastics Technology 1 Learning System (96-PLS1T)
Plastics Technology 2 Learning System (96-PLS2)
