Comprehensive Electrical Fabrication Curriculum Connected to Real-World Skills

Amatrol's electrical fabrication eLearning course covers important topics, such as:

Introduction to Electrical Wiring

Learners begin with an introduction to electrical wiring, including electrical terms, safety, wire stripping and termination techniques, and power cord installation. Individual lessons focus on topics like the basic components of an electrical circuit, types of wiring terminals, and the function of 3-wire AC circuits and electrical plugs. Learners will also practice skills, such as stripping insulation from wires using a stripping tool, installing a spade-lug connector on a wire, and connecting an AC plug to an electric cord.

Residential Wiring System Components

Learners will study the components and operation of residential wiring systems, including wiring systems and installation of nonmetallic cables, switches, and outlets. Individual lessons focus on topics like electrical junction boxes, wiring installation plans, common grounding methods, and electrical outlet connections. Learners will also practice skills, such as interpreting a wiring installation plan, running nonmetallic cable between electrical boxes, and installing outlets and switches in junction boxes.

Service Connection and Circuit Protection

Learners using Amatrol’s electrical fabrication eLearning course will study basic principles of service connection and circuit protection, including installation of lighting and 3-way switch lighting circuits. Individual lessons focus on topics like common methods for splicing wires, connecting a service panel to the service entrance, and the operation of fuses and circuit breakers. Learners will also practice skills, such as installing and connecting an incandescent light fixture, connecting a wiring system to a service panel, and installing and connecting a 3-way switch lighting circuit.
