  • Flushing Multiple Heat Pump Systems

What is a Flush Cart? How is it Operated?

A flush cart uses a pump, valves, and a piping network to pump fluid into and out of the GHP ground loop through ports on a the GHP flow center. Flush carts are also used when replacing the ground loop fluid, adding antifreeze, or whenever performing maintenance on a component where air may be allowed into the loop. Flush carts, generally, are mounted on two wheels so that it can be rolled into position, similar to a handtruck.

Flush carts receive fresh water through a hose connected to an external source, such as a city water supply. A reservoir on the flush cart stores excess fluid while preventing air from entering the system. A strainer at the bottom of the reservoir prevents debris from entering the system. Typically, components are arranged on a compact mobile cart to allow installers to bring the cart to the system on-site.
